Something special brewing at Hive for Restaurant Week

Hive Coffee Comapny is set to create a buzz with its unique blend of wholesome foods and quality beverages on offer during South Tyneside Restaurant Week.

Hive Coffee Company, based in the Grade II Listed Jarrow Hall House, is just one of the many food businesses taking part in the South Tyneside’s third annual Restaurant Week, which is running from Saturday 7 – Saturday 14 October.

Hive uses locally grown and healthy produce in their freshly prepared contemporary menus with dishes ranging from flavoursome flatbreads and salads to quiches to cakes. There are also options for dietary conscious visitors including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free.

And to celebrate Restaurant Week, the coffee shop is offering two specials, in addition to its usual offerings. These include a coffee and cake combo for £3.50 and an avocado toast and poached egg with chilli flakes and paprika (plus a tea or coffee), for just £5.

Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “We are delighted to have Hive Coffee Company celebrating this year’s Restaurant Week with us. This wonderful coffee shop in the beautifully renovated Jarrow Hall House is the perfect place to enjoy a hot beverage and socialise with friends over lunch.”

Hive Coffee Company was opened in April by co-owners Sarah Daglish and Eve McPadden and provides a visitor café for Jarrow Hall, Anglo-Saxon Farm, Village and Bede Museum.

Sarah said: “We have had a fantastic first five months, reviving the hall’s former café and offering visitors a place to enjoy our barista style coffee and a healthy bite to eat.”

Eve added: “We are delighted to be part of Restaurant Week. It is great opportunity for us to showcase our dishes and celebrate the event with special one-off offers. We look forward to welcoming new customers over the week while offering something a little different to our regular visitors.”

Hive Coffee Company is among more than 40 places to eat across the Borough offering guests a chance to enjoy special two course menus and offers on everything from traditional seaside fayre to fine dining and food from around the world.
