Jarrow Hall Beltane Celebration – Bank Holiday Monday 6th May

May 6, 2019 - 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join us at Jarrow Hall this Bank Holiday Monday (6th May) to celebrate Beltane, the time in the Celtic Year where you contact the spirit of FIRE to burn away the last remnants of winter and be refreshed, inspired and full of energy for the year ahead.

What is Beltane?
Wiccan Priestess Harper will offer a brief talk on the meaning behind our rites at this time of year.

Beltane Procession (Free with General Admission)
We will learn a chant and a drumbeat for a parade through the beautiful grounds of Jarrow Hall. No singing or musical talent necessary, but bring drums, rattles or other noisemakers if you have them.

A Short Ritual for Beltane (Free with General Admission)
We will gather to honour the Lady and Lord in the Green. Harper and her fellow Pagans will take you through a version of our Coven’s Beltane rite, and ask a blessing on everyone in attendance for a happy and healthy summer to come.

The Maypole (Free with General Admission)
The most famous symbol of our Beltane celebrations! Harper will explain its significance, and we will greet the pole in our traditional way. Then – best fun of all – we will show you an easy dance to bind up the pole in its festive ribbons.

Story Telling (Free with general admission)
Learn all about the Green Man and the Goddess during interactive story telling sessions at the Thirlings at 11am and 12:30pm
