Discover your passion, learn new skills and enjoy yourself as a volunteer at Jarrow Hall

At Jarrow Hall our volunteers are invaluable part of the team, supporting our development and increasing the work we are able to do both on and off-site. We are always looking for new people to join us, and we have a wide range of activities available for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to get involved in.

If you would like to share your existing skills and knowledge or find an opportunity to learn new ones, then have a look through our role descriptions because we have something to suit everyone! Perhaps you love working with the public and helping them have a great time or perhaps you simply want to meet some great people, make new friends and have fun? Some of our volunteers find that "getting their hands dirty" is an ideal way to be outside, enjoying some fresh air and getting some exercise!

Our roles range from selling admission tickets and helping in our gift shop, to educating and entertaining our visitors as a Tour Guide or costumed Anglo-Saxon in our reconstruction Village. You may be interested in joining the Gwyre Group and find out about life in Anglo-Saxon times or you can help the Practical Environmental Volunteer Group or in our Herb Garden where the volunteers meet each Thursday morning.

You can expect a friendly and welcoming environment, thorough induction and training, travel expenses and celebration events as well as other benefits and the opportunity to meet new people.
