Discover your passion, learn new skills and enjoy yourself as a volunteer at Jarrow Hall
At Jarrow Hall our volunteers are an invaluable part of the team, supporting our development and increasing the work we are able to do both on and off-site. We are always looking for new people to join us, and we have a wide range of activities available for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to get involved in.
If you would like to share your existing skills and knowledge or find an opportunity to learn new ones, then have a look through our role descriptions because we have something to suit everyone! Perhaps you love working with the public and helping them have a great time or perhaps you simply want to meet some great people, make new friends and have fun? Some of our volunteers find that "getting their hands dirty" is an ideal way to be outside, enjoying some fresh air and exercise!
Our roles range from selling admission tickets and helping in our gift shop, to educating and entertaining our visitors as a Tour Guide or costumed Anglo-Saxon in our reconstruction Village. You may be interested in joining the Gwyre Group and find out about life in Anglo-Saxon times and join in with the regular displays of life in Gwyre Village (the name of our Anglo-Saxon settlement). You might like to join our Practical Environmental Volunteer Group who carry out lots of different tasks to manage and maintain our site. Our Herb Garden, situated behind Jarrow Hall House, is also enjoying being brought back to it's original splendour, the volunteers meet here each Thursday morning. And even the little ones don't need to miss out, they can join our Saturday Morning Farmers Club, allowing close up and hands on experience with our farm animals.
You can expect a friendly and welcoming environment, thorough induction and training, travel expenses and celebration events as well as other benefits and the opportunity to meet new people.
